Another giant at quayside

Aker Drilling`s drilling rig Aker Barents arrived at Westcon today for a four to six week stay for repairs and reinstallation of equipment.

After Christmas Aker Barents briefly entered sheltered waters to dismantle six hydraulic cylinders that are used during normal drilling operations. These cylinders were returned to the manufacturer in the Netherlands for repair, whilst the rig returned to the field to drill the first part of the 25/1-11 Storlakken well (licence 460)

Drilling of the Storlakken well is partially complete, and will resume as soon as the repaired cylinders have been reinstated. Simultaneously to the cylinder work other minor repairs and adjustments will be made. Aker Barents is still on contract whilst the rig is at quayside.
