Normand Skipper ready for return to work for Statoil ASA

Six weeks docking work performed in four!

Solstad are satisfied with the results of Normand Skipper's yard stay and stated that "Westcon has performed six weeks work in four".  Westcon's work on the vessel was completed on the 24th March, and now sea trials and the testing of various systems are ongoing.   If these tests are successful Normand Skipper is expected to leave the yard during the weekend.  Statoil ASA has extended the contract for the Normand Skipper with one year from April 2010, so the platform supply vessel will be returning to its former duties.

During the four hectic and effective weeks the Normand Skipper has been at the yard a new VROS (submersible propeller) has been installed under the vessel forward of the four main motors.  In the Engine Room the main motors, the bow propeller and Azimuth thrusters were overhauled, as well as considerable piping, steel and electro work in connection with the installation of the VROS; in fact the area was crowded on occasions. Other maintenance work was performed in various areas of the vessel.  The hull was also cleaned and painted whilst the vessel was in the dock.
